 (BOULDER) Exit Through the Gift Shop is a film by Banksy who dares not reveal his face. He's a wanted man for destroying BT property all in the name of streetart

The film involves 5 street artists that have discovered Kinko's copy shop can print huge pieces of whatever art they design. One of the artists, Shepard Fairey, did the Barack Obama print "Hope" - a disputed work that is still in the courts today.

The film shines with creative ideas of street art captured by Banksy and others. It makes for a fun time with laughs at the absurdity of filming all the action in London, New York, and L.A.

Spray-painting "I just messed up your wall" doesn't seem to serve any useful purpose. But through this, we learn that all grafitti is temporary. It is usually painted over or removed although at someone's expense.

Some of the other works and techniques of the artists were amazingly inventive. One whole abandoned tunnel was used as a mind-blowing street gallery featuring, quite literally, "underground street artists".

It is a satire that inevitably needed to be made - especially with amateur film-maker Frenchman Thierry Guetta who ran around shooting mindless video for several years. After the guy ends up filming a renegade street artist, we learn he gives up his video hobby in pursuit of creating his own street art. Guetta then goes on to sell his art in a L.A. gallery for over a million dollars much to the chagrin of the other frustrated street artists.

That's why the film is declared a disaster. As Banksy describes it, "It's basically the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable...and failed!"
A Paranoid Pictures film :flasher:
