Street Performing: Low cost, high impact by BC on Sep 5, 2020
:therapy: (THE NETHERLANDS) An article at TheCityAtEyeLevel.com in the Netherlands has published an article portraying busking as a viable means of rejuvenating city streets. Some city's methodology include Glasgow, Melbourne, and Singapore.

"Busking is at risk of being licensed out of existence, with permit systems, auditions, fees, written application processes, equipment bans, scheduling and branding making the spontaneous, surprising art in public spaces a thing of the past."

The article goes on to discuss street performing policy, proposed permit systems, and a starters guide to encouraging busking in your city.

Many buskers prefer to be self-regulated but there are always a few who abuse this type of system. This can lead to public disputes where there is strong disagreement.

Re-imagining Times Square by BC on Oct 2, 2016
:knight: (NEW YORK) Times Square, the self-proclaimed "Crossroads of the World," is the top destination for tourists hoping for the quintessential Gotham experience. An article by John Tierney in City Journal magazine takes us through a 2+ decades trip of Times Square. Recent developments have converted automobile traffic lanes into lanes for street-performers and street-vendors.

"Fake Buddhist monks begging for money, living statues, the Naked Cowboy, topless women, and a horde of costumed cartoon characters are all pressuring tourists to pay them for a picture - because nothing says New York like a selfie with the Incredible Hulk."

"A remade Times Square could start taking shape at the end of this year when the new plaza is supposed to be finished. By then, city officials hope to have...

Naked Cowboy drops out of mayor race by BC on Sep 6, 2009
:guitar: NEW YORK — The Naked Cowboy of Times Square says he's dropping out of the race for New York mayor.

Robert "Bob" Burck is a tourist attraction known for strumming his guitar in the square while wearing only briefs and a cowboy hat.

He entered the mayoral race in July with the slogan, “Nobody has done more with less.”

But now, he says he's had enough of the red tape that goes with a mayoral run.

He says the last straw came when the city's Conflicts of Interest Board fined him $250 for failing to file a required financial disclosure form.

Mr. Burck says the only way to be taken seriously is to appear in a suit and tie.

:pointlol: "And away he goes...skidmarks and all," said a Times Squar...

Greetings from Seattle. by Eric Haines on Jan 7, 2013
I'm a comedian, juggler, one man band and stilt walker out of Seattle. Early on I did some busking, and while I occasionally busk, most of my bookings these days are paid events.

I still hold busking in high regard, and consider it one of the most elemental, difficult and rewarding types of performance to do.

My website: http://comedyrocket.com

May your pitch be full of happy customers, and your bottle be full!
