(TAIPEI) Busking is a thriving art in Taipei - a city that is busy promoting Taiwanese street performances featuring modern and traditional elements.

In Taipei City alone, there are 59 public places now open to street performers including parks, commercial plazas, and a number of metro stations.
Besides Vieshow Square, the Ximending area in western Taipei and the Tamshui Metro station near the northwest coast of New Taipei City are also renowned busking sites.
Born from this success, the Taiwan Buskers Development Association was created whose mission is to fight for more street performance space, advocate buskers job rights, and keep the traditional arts alive.

The songs are created specifically by Busker Films and can be heard in video documentaries found over at the famed Busker Alley website. The productions are symbolic of the quality and style found in "The Alley".
The songs showcase different attitudes towards the street-performing arts. Hated by some and loved by others, the songs portrays the busker moving town to town doing their shows and entertaining the masses en route to...who knows where?

“Ten years ago no one really went out after dark on the court square,” said Jeff Ledford. Now that mindset has changed, cities are moving with these ideas.
Moving forward means change.
With the number of people increasing, one of those changes is more musicians taking to the sidewalks. “With growth comes change, and we are going to see things we haven’t had to deal with like street performers,” said Ledford.
