Hoping to get over to Lawrence this Saturday. The Jay Hawks are at home playing football and there is a good crowd milling about in Downtown Lawrence. They are busker friendly. Hopefully will keep me busy. Wish me luck.

:party: (WWW) In these days of pandemics and wars, what better way than busking to get people's minds off the problems of the world? Buskers are the chosen ones when it comes to this now even more difficult task. Performers all over the world can take heart that they're doing the right thing - especially in these trying times.

Most buskers are talented muses from jazz thru hip hop thru classical, Latin, and folk and rock music even playing some blues standards for fans in the know.

Parks can be more open to busking. It helps to know that North Carolina's Busker's Day welcomes select buskers from across the state to play music throughout the Museum Park. These kind of sidewalk attractions can only create a more vibrant community.

:guitar: (WWW) A website by Isaac Wexler has included a history of busking as a means to promote his courses on successful street-performing. A busker for over ten years, Busker Pro is his way of giving back the knowledge and experience of his career as a busker.

Some interesting notations include the furthest recorded history of law affecting buskers in ancient Rome back in 462 BC. It was made a criminal offense to sing or make parodies about the government or officials in public places. The result was a very harsh death penalty to the performers without noble protection from the privilege of justice.

Another was in 1530 when Henry VIII ordered the practise of minstrels and players, fortune-tellers, pardoners and fencers, as well as beggars that if they did not obey the law, they could be whipped for two days....
