Jim & Bob Entertainment by jimcozzi on Feb 27, 2011
I am a bird handler & entertainer from Key West and Orlando area. I am relocating to the Atlanta area and interested in coordinating buskers in Atlanta. I do numerous pro-bono charity events like: Hospice, Make-A-Wish, Give Kids The World Resort, and Muscular Dystrophy camp.

I have also appeared on television like NBC Today Show, HGTV, Food Network and appeared as the official entertainer for Jimmy Buffet's Meeting of The Minds-Parrot Heads Fan Club convention with over 3,000 people in attendance.

If you live in Atlanta or know any buskers there, please have them contact me. If you could refer me or need to add a tropical themed act, I would greatly appreciate referrals.

Introducing the Southland Buskers Festival by BC on Feb 6, 2010
 (NEW ZEALAND) Often it's happenstance. Every now and then, though, you've become part of something more organised. Invercargill this weekend has a welcome taste of that, with the inaugural Southland Buskers Festival, a satellite event from the recently concluded World Buskers Festival in Christchurch.

In Queens Park, Wachner Place, and a raft of other venues, world-class performers, are disporting themselves in a host of implausible entertainments.

We have a contortionists and escapologists, acrobats, a strong-woman, a slackrope master, a guy who torments his face with rubber bands, a living angel statue, and we shudder to think what else.

Rivera Beach by guitarman on Sep 27, 2008
:guitar: Living out of my car, I was 26 on Rivera Beach in Florida. I was already hot in more ways than one. The police had already noticed me hanging out with my guitar and knew I was meeting girls and getting laid. Once, a cop came up on us knowing something was going on but found no evidence. It was inside my closed guitar case. Then, a jamming buddy made a sign and we crossed the street to an alcove between 2 restaurants. The sign read "Donations gladly accepted for munchies and strings". We made $12 and took off for much greener pastures down in the French Quarter.

Radio 1 star goes undercover as a "Secret Busker" by BC on Mar 3, 2015
:sing: (LONDON) Radio 1 star Olly Murs has received his makeunder as a homeless guy with head lice. His mission was to perform in Covent Garden and see how well he does.

The trend of stars busking on pitches around the world seems to have manifested itself. Whether for a commercial, skit, or social experiment, the stars are coming out at all hours. The celebrities over the years include Sir Paul McCartney, Joshua Bell, Guns & Roses, Bruce Springsteen, Usher, Murs, and more yet to come.

You'd think Murs would be releasing some fantastic new album but this social experiment was at the top of the list. He demonstrates how important professionalism can be when busking in the real world. Even in his condition, it was more of an audition than a handout.

Murs performed 45 minutes of his own songs and even has the video to prove...

SOCAN wants to charge buskers performance fees by BC on Dec 8, 2009
:pointlol: (from the You've got-to-be-kidding-me Department)
One of the themes of 2009 was that collection societies around the world went nuts trying to charge for anything they possibly could while also trying to increase the rates they could charge. Even banks went wild with their hidden charges.

Remember how one collection society wanted to charge a woman because she put on music in public for her horses? Or how about the woman who worked in a grocery store who was told to stop singing while stocking the shelves or the store would have to pay a performance fee? And, of course, we had ASCAP trying to claim that ringtones were public performances, and mobile operators needed to pay up -- beyond the license fee that was already paid on the recording.

SOCAN, the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada, has been no exception pushing for drastically increased rates...
