Hi all,

I'm a musician from Ghent, and together with the band Den Hoed Quartet I have been busking regularly. Over the years, the city of Ghent has made it progressively more difficult to busk, and now it's virtually impossible to even try to busk. Last time the police threatened to take away our instruments, even though we had a license. But we were playing at the wrong spot in the wrong hour.

So we're collecting stories from all buskers that have been trying out Ghent. Did you buy a license? If so, why, why not? Did you like the experience? Do you want to come back?

We hope to come to an agreement with the city council for some new regulations, but it would be cool if we have tons of stories to point out that superhigh prices (up to 73 euro a month for a band of 5 or more) don't really get quality performers to the city.
