Hi,
I'm (probably) about to start programming a park for street musicians, and wanted to a) give you a heads up, and b) see if there's anything you think I should keep in mind when setting the thing up – I want to be as kind to the performers as possible (and not mess anyone around).

Extended description:
I’ve been speaking to a real estate company in Manhattan about opening up one of their small parks near Times Square to street musicians. It's a little memorial to firemen of 9/11, with a small fountain and some tables and chairs. Due to its proximity to Times Square it gets quite a lot of foot traffic. The people I’ve been speaking to seem quite keen to turn it into a more artistic space, and thought some musicians would definitely help. The program would probably be scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., either 5 or 7 days a week.

I’m going to have a meeting with them next week to talk about the logistics of how a program like this might be run. They’re open to suggestions (he agreed that both hourly slots and a monthly performer marathon would be good ideas), so I think they’ll be good to work with.

However, I wanted to make sure that I’m not missing anything important when I talk with them. For example, I’m going to suggest that there be secure donation boxes scattered around the place, so people can donate without having to struggle through the crowd, or getting up from their lunch. I’m also going to suggest a website, and that each performer can be filmed for publicity, and so on. If you have some time before Tuesday to tell me what you think I should be wary of, or things I might like to suggest to them, I’d be really grateful. The events I’ve planned before have all been for children, and I’ve not run a daily program, so any advice you can give would be appreciated. Thanks again for everything,

Sincerely,

Nick Broad

NOW HIRING!

So, Stonehenge NYC might be the only real estate company in the world that actually LIKES buskers. And not only do they want street musicians in their little park, they're actually going to PAY THEM! ($50 per performance)

Wow.

So, if you'd like the gig, go to the following link, read through it, and tell me when you'd like to play. It's first-come-first-serve.

I'm putting this all together out of the kindness of my heart (and because they said they'd donate to The Busking Project). If you like what I'm doing, and can spare a couple of dollars, please donate to my kickstarter application! – http://kck.st/9bBsVU

Thanks all,

Nick x
