Hey Buskers. I have been doing restaurants for 7 years now as a clown magician and balloon artist. Just started doing street shows as a magician, no clown, no balloons. What is the best way to get into the festival end of the business?

Just show up and start doing magic as I do on the street? Try to book myself as a headliner? (Perish this thought!) Get a booth and be a vendor?

Any help appreciated.

Personally, I'd make a short 5 minute high-quality video of yourself performing and burn them to DVD's. Then, you could use these to submit to festivals and wherever you'd like to perform with a much better chance of being hired.

Yep, a high quality Video and a good press kit. Dont be afraid to spend a fair amount of money on these!

I'm glad this was posted by a performer because I'm an organizer who is struggling with a similar issue: How does one organize a Busker Festival? Is there a standard rate of pay for performers or do they rely on spectator payment? Any help would be appreciated with this.
